Speaking Test Part 1

IELTS Speaking Test has three parts part 1part 2 and part 3.

In part 1 of the Speaking test, the examiner will ask 4-6 general questions on familiar topics. It is expected that the examiner will introduce him/herself first and ask your name and then ask you to confirm your identity.

The questions in this part include familiar topics such as home, family, work, studies and interests. Part 1 of the test will last 4-5 minutes.



It is customary that the examiner will ask your name first. He/she then will ask you to show your identity (passport in this case) and want to know what you do, where are you from and some basic conversation-starter questions.

Q. 1 Do you have many friends?
Ans.  Of course, I have numerous friends, but only a few close friends.



Q. 2 How often do you talk to your friends?
Ans.  I talk to my friends everyday via social media as well as face to face . My best friend is also my neighbour. We are together most of the time.

Q. 3  How do you communicate with your friends?
Ans. I communicate face- to -face and also through social media apps like, whatsApp and Facebook.

Q. 4  what do you think makes people have a long friendship?
Ans. I believe one of the most important thing mutual understanding that makes people have a long friendship. If people can tolerate each other’s shortcoming and be simple and straight forward, then friendship can be for a long time.



Q. 5 Does it makes things easier in a friendship if you have similar interests?
Ans. Yes definitely. With similar interests friends can spend time together and not get bored. They will also have similar topics for discussion. It is very essential that their likes and dislikes are similar in a lasting friendship.

Q. 6 How do people make friends now?
Ans. In this contemporary era, masses makes friends via social media apps such as, Facebook, Instagram and whatsApp.

Q . 7 Do you think we meet new people differently now than in the past?
Ans. Yes of course. In this modern era, we meet new people through internet by joining social networking software like Facebook, twitter and whatsApp. Earlier, people had lots of free time and they made friends by meeting personally.

Q. 8 Is friendship (= are friends) important to you? (Why? /why not?)
Ans. Yes, friends are essential for me. I can express all my feelings with them, and they understand me very well because they are mostly my age. Moreover I feel relaxed after chitchat with them



Q. 9 Do you prefer to spend time with friends or spend time alone? (Why?)
Ans . I prefer to spend time with mu friends. I love their company and I really enjoy with them.

Q. 10 what kind of people do you have as friends?
Ans. I like my friends to be trustworthy, honest, helpful and intelligent. I also like friend with a good sense of humour.

Ans. Yes,. I like to spend time with them because I love their company and also hanging out with them, for movies, for shopping as well.

Ans. We study together, watch movies together, sometimes we prepare food at home together because we believe in learning new things.

Ans. In my eyes, my friends like me. We spend a lot of time together and they never seem bored. I am honest and straightforward with them. So I think they like me.

Q. 14 Are friends more important than family? (Why?)
Ans. Friends and family both play an essential role. But I think, family is definitely more important than friends. Friends turn out in difficult time but family always with us and our good times as well as bad times.

Q.15 How do indian people make friends?
Ans. Indian people make friends in various way like through social media app, in schools, in concerts and during travelling. However, nowadays  making online friends has also become more popular.

Ans. I live with my family. I meet my family members everyday.

Q. 2 How do spend the time with your family?
Ans. I spend time with my family members in various ways. Such as we eat together, Cook together,Watch television together and do many other things together like shopping.

Q. 3 Do you want to live with your family members in the future?
Ans. Yes definitely family is my backbone and my strength even though I go to abroad for my higher education but after completing my study I come back and want to be with my family.

Q. 4 Are you  close to all of your family members?
Ans. Yes, we are very close-knit family. From my childhood I share everything with my family members. It is essential to bonding between family.

Q. 5 How has your family influenced you?
Ans . My family has influenced me in many ways. We depend on each other for many things. We support each other in imperative situation. They also encourage me for my further study.
